Fonterra Crawford St Coolstores
Hamilton
Constructed: 2009
Main Contractor: Haydn & Rollett
Post tension: BBR Contech
Steel Fibre: Dramix
Concrete: Allied Concrete
Conslab undertook the complete insitu concrete package to the coolstores. The slabs to the 5 internal freezers/coolrooms are all post tensioned to avoid any joint and were placed over polystyrene to a very tight flatness specification.
Working to a brief which required minimal joints the corridors and ELA were a mix of either steel fibre jointless slabs or post tensioned, whichever provided the best economy.
Fibre suppressant was laid on the steel fibre slabs to avoid steel fibre showing on the surface.
Ashford Formula was used for anti-dusting and to provide gloss.
Conslab undertook trials with the engineer to show we could work in the coolstores on the polystyrene without damage but while meeting the very tight flatness specification.
