“The floor is an amazing seamless floor, which suits every piece of our machinery as well as being easy to maintain.”
– Kim Craig, Kmart
The multi-award-winning floor for the 12,923m2Kmart distribution centre is made of 40Mpapost-tensioned concrete. Hardwearing and offering excellent abrasion resistance, its also designed to reduce the need for artificial lighting, with a lightly coloured, highly polished surface. The floor meets the flatness requirements of the European racking code EN15620 (class FM 2), is easy to maintain and will cope well with any future change in use.
Outside, an 11,333m2steel-fibre-reinforced slab has the capacity to hold stacked 40-foot containers, as well as the straddle carrier that’s used to load and unload them.
Joseph Bashouri of Woodhams/Meikle/Zhan Architects, the project architect for the distribution centre, says:
“I was impressed with the quality of the floor finish that Conslab delivered… The top-quality product, highly skilled workmanship and speed of delivery were all evident, and these features are becoming what differentiates Conslab from the rest.
“Over the years I have seen Conslab delivering concrete slabs for a number of jobs… and every time they surpass my expectations.”
