The brief to Conslab in 2013 was to create a state-of-the-art, hardwearing, high aesthetic concrete floor for the new Bunnings in Takanini. The floor size was substantial; 9500m2 internal retail store, 2000m2 external yard and 300m2 carpark.
Tim Walker, General Manager, Conslab explains:
“To achieve consistency and the high aesthetic finish required extreme attention to detail of the laying process. It was very exacting with little margin for error. We used small pours and were extremely precise about the mix to ensure colour matching.”
The Bunnings Warehouse Takanini project was built in accordance with the Bunnings concrete specification, which is an ominous and challenging specification written to ensure that the best possible outcome for a highly burnished and very flat concrete retail floor is achieved.
“Conslab were very good to work with. They proved to be a cooperative member of the wider construction team. Flexibility was required in order to achieve a design mix and placing methodology that would meet the very specific finish requirements specified to achieve our required outcome.
In all of my dealings with Conslab, I found their team to have a high level of expert knowledge, were open to our requirements and were professional in the way they went about their business.”
