The landmark Wigram Airforce Museum features a spectacular 5100m2 post-tensioned concrete slab floor.
Within tight time-frames, Conslab was instructed to design, construct and finish the concrete floor on this large project.
Andrew Dallas, Technical Director at Conslab explains:
“This job was complex as the floor included heating pipes and light and electrical boxes at regular intervals. Special care was needed because a post-tensioned floor will crack if it is restrained.
We worked with the engineer and various subcontractors to ensure their details worked together with the slab design. It was satisfying to bring this challenging job to a successful completion.”
Paul Smyth, Project Manager, Mainzeal says:
“Working with Conslab is made easy on a number of levels, especially by the quality of the results and by the work they do behind the scenes before the actual pour day. Their pre-project work is second to none with clear and consistent quotes, prompt and timely documentation.
I have worked on two projects now with Conslab. The Nelson Hangar 5000m2 post tension in one pour and the Air Force Museum at Wigram.
The finish on both jobs was exactly what the clients were after and this is demonstrated by the awards both jobs have taken out due to the superb finishing details.
I highly recommend Conslab and am looking forward to working with them on the next project.”
